The framework for social justice philanthropy includes three main components:
Philanthropy is an inherently values-driven endeavor: the word’s original meaning is “love of humankind.” A set of shared and complimentary values is an essential part of creating “philanthropic resonance.”
There are six key competencies effective social justice funders embody and practice: the ability to be analytical, leaderful, strategic, technical, relational and adaptive.
Intentionally applying these competencies and values to the specific work of strategy development, outreach & application, due diligence, making the case, award & implementation, and evaluation & learning is correlated to overall grantmaking effectiveness.
