Even before the 2016 election, many foundations were focusing on issues of equity. Now, in the "age of Trump," this focus is even more critical and timely. Yet, effectively addressing inequity requires both values-driven grantmaking practices and an understanding of complex and nested systems that create inequity - both of which are difficult for philanthropy to do well.
In this 1-day workshop, participants will explore different pathways that they can take to further equity in their work and institutions. By engaging with dynamic case studies from peers in the field, participants will discuss the nuances of creating values-alignment in grantmaking; identify both transitional and transformational pathways for themselves and their institutions; and define clear action steps to take on those pathways.
