In partnership with the Women Donors Network, the Bay Area Justice Funders Network is co-sponsoring a webinar on "Grantmaking as an Ally:  Leveraging Your Donor Power and Privilege for Social Change"


What are some best practices in philanthropy for advancing systemic change and bridging class and issue divides? This webinar is designed to share lessons learned from a private foundation which values donor activism and working as an ally as part of their mission. We’ll also explore key strategies to that will help you learn, reflect, and improve your own practice as a grantmaker.

 

The call will feature Dana Kawaoka-Chen of the Bay Area Justice Funders Network and Quinn Delaney of the Akonadi Foundation. Dana and Quinn will discuss what it means to be an ally as a grantmaker, and some specific practices of grantmaking as an ally.

 

On this call, you will learn:

 

    What it means to be an ally to the organizations you fund,

    How the practice of being an ally differs from traditional grantmaking,

    Key tools for engaging other funders in discussions about social justice grantmaking, and

    Understand how to use your privilege and power for more effective movement and coalition-building.
